i’ve had the opportunity to cook with several kokoro care packages over the years and enjoy many of the japanese ingredients they feature. the box i talked about in this video was the ‘wa’ edition. wa means japanese as well as peaceful or harmony, when translated to english. ❤
the wa kokoro care package
features many of the most common japanese cooking ingredients you would want in your kitchen or japanese pantry. some of the items that were in this box include: dashi powder, shiokoji, miso dengaku, soy sauce, rice vinegar, shichimi, along with a nice assortment of recipes and brochures with background and stories behind each of the products and small family owned businesses that produce them.
what makes the kokoro care packages special
that they’re sourced from a variety of different regions within japan. many of these regions have specialties and without the kokoro care package service, you’d have to travel yourself to each area yourself to find some of these items.
alternatives to the Kokoro Care Package?
if you happen to visiti tokyo, you may want to head to the ginza district where they have ‘antenna shops’ that sell a variety of regional goods within a store. last i checked there were over 20 different stores to explore, so as you may imagine there are a lot of regional specialty and tasty foods and japanese ingredients just waiting for you to discover.
if youre not headed to japan any time soon, the kokoro care packages could be one of the easiest ways for you to get a taste. there’s a link below if you’re interested.
